TECHNIKON is an independent, privately owned research service company in Austria. We combine engineering competence with knowledge in security requirements, technology roadmaps and IT infrastructure services for our industrial customers. We drive European innovation by managing the planning, budgeting and execution of industrial driven research. We spotlight technology by designing, animating, and illustrating novel concepts and products and by creating podcasts about research and innovation. We ensure responsible research by guarding ethical principles, diversity measures, inclusion, privacy and by mitigating associated risks.

Horizon Europe first interval
2024 – Technikon looks back at a very successfull first half of the Horizon Europe funding framework (2021-2027): counting 9 new Horizon Europe projects with Technikon as Coordinator or Coordination Support (+ 1 ISF funded project).

2021 – Technikon starts successfully into new European funding program “Horizon Europe”, winning 4 new projects:
Spotlight on European Innovation
In 2018 Technikon established its new media laboratory to promote European research and innovation activities world-wide. A professional sound-studio was build and a PODCAST series on European Innovation was created. Look for EUVATION on Spotify, iTunes, Google or wherever you get your podcasts.
H2020 jump-started with four ICT projects
In 2015 Technikon started the European H2020 Framework program with four new projects: M3TERA, SAFURE, SUPERCLOUD and HECTOR. Kick-off meetings were held in Villach, Munich, Grenoble and Paris.

Austrian Leading Companies 2013
Technikon took part in the 2013 contest for the Leading Austrian Companies and was ranked 8th place in Carinthia. Our performance and business indicators were thoroughly checked by PWC (Price Waterhouse Coopers) and KSV1870 (Kreditschutzverband Österreich).
Security Engineering Services
In 2011 Technikon established “Security Engineering Services” and won the Carinthian State award for research in “Programmable Physically Unclonable Functions.” The State of Carinthia proposed Technikon for the Austrian 2011 State Award “Econovius.”

In 2009, Technikon received the Austria state award for equal opportunities in research and development for our long-term engagement in approaching and solving gender issues related to large multinational research projects.
Winner of the state prize for innovation and research 2006
In 2006 Technikon won the state prize of Carinthia in the field of ICT for its Trusted Knowledge Suite. The reviewers pointed out that the completeness and overall security of the ICT tool was convincing.
SCARD - Side Channel Analysis Resistant Design Flow
For the first time in company history, we entered into the role of a coordinator. Our first threshold was to get a bank guarantee of 3 Million Euro. In SCARD, we enhanced the typical micro-chip design flow – from high level system description over register transfer layer description down to gate level net lists, and final placement and routing of the micro chip – in order to provide means for designing side-channel resistant circuits and systems.
